Insurance Backed Guarantee's

What is an insurance backed guarantee?

An insurance backed guarantee can be applied for by the contractor once works have been completed. Running alongside a company guarantee, this covers the customer in any event that the company who completed your works ceases trading.

This can be a valuable asset to both roofers and their customers. An insurance backed guarantee boosts customers confidence with homeowners knowing they have extra protection.

Insurance backed guarantees are available for a period of up to 10 years and are always backed by an authorised insurer.

Lots of companies offer their own company guarantee. However, if the company ceases trading this guarantee will be void. The insurance backed guarantee will continue to run for the remainder of the 10-year period covering all points stated in the company guarantee.

Is an insurance backed guarantee mandatory?

It is not mandatory for your roofer to offer an insurance backed guarantee. This is at the discretion of each contractor. With this being said, not all contractors qualify to apply for an insurance backed guarantee through The Confederation of Roofing Contractors.

Most customers base who they select for their works on the basis that the contractor can offer them an insurance backed guarantee, as they feel this offers them more reassurance.

What does an insurance backed guarantee cover?

Insurance backed guarantees only cover new roofing works. Any repair works on a roof will not be eligible for an insurance backed guarantee.

An insurance backed guarantee can be applied for as a residential property or commercial property up to four stories high.

How do I claim on an insurance backed guarantee?

Making a claim on your insurance backed guarantee is easy to do. Firstly, you must attempt to contact the contractor who completed your roof works. If for any reason they are uncontactable or have ceased trading, you may then make a claim on your insurance backed guarantee.

You then contact the insurance company directly who will issue you with a claim form. If accepted the insurance company will then pay for the cost of a repair on your roof.
